Anzal K S is currently pursuing his PhD at NCBS-TIFR in Bangalore, a journey he began in 2018. His academic excellence is reflected in his qualifications, having cleared exams such as CSIR-NET (Life Science) in 2017 and 2018, JGEEBILS in 2017 and 2018, and GATE (Life Science) in 2017. He was also a DST INSPIRE SHE fellow from 2012 to 2017. Anzal's research experience includes a Junior Research Fellowship at TIFR, Mumbai (2017-2018) and various internships at prestigious institutions like NUS, NCBS, IISER-TVM, and WWF. His work has been recognized with several grants, including the Carl Storm International Diversity Fellowship (2024), the Mightex Research Excellence Prize (Honourable Mentions) (2023), and the Infosys-NCBS Intramural Travel Grant (2022). Anzal also participated in esteemed summer schools such as the Transylvanian Experimental Neuroscience Summer School (TENSS) in 2022 and the Monsoon Workshop on Experimental Neuroscience (MonssonWEN) in 2019. He has presented his research on pattern learning in CA1 pyramidal cells of the mouse hippocampus at Neuroscience 2023 in Washington DC, USA, and delivered a talk on how neurons learn patterns at the No Garland Neuroscience conference at IISER Pune in 2023.
